Finally after years of having to rely on the mobile site or third party apps Reddit have released their own mobile app available for both iOS and Android.

Now you can browse endless cat GIFs wherever you are. Although dozens of apps on iOS and Android offer the same type of content and present it in a better package, it’s great that Reddit have finally made an app.

Offering both a “compact” and “card” view for catching up on your favorites. While the app is free you can purchase the Reddit Gold subscription, which gives you an add-free mobile Reddit experience, as well as additional features when browsing Reddit on a desktop or laptop. According to Reddit there are plans to update the app with a lot of other features coming soon.

On the other side of things, the mighty Facebook juggernaut continues to spread it’s social wings by introducing Facebook’s Mentions app. Live-steaming apps like Meerkat and Periscope continue to go from strength to strength, and this week Facebook added to its own live-streaming service through a neat update.

Facebook’s Mentions app now lets users control which friends and followers can see a particular live stream, add live user comments and reactions such as “love,” or “angry” and also change the look and feel of their video using filters. If you’re a fan of live streaming, Facebook’s offering is certainly one worth checking out.

There are even rumours that the ability to draw on a live video is going to be coming soon.
