iPhone SE Review

Apple has just released the iPhone SE a spiritual successor to the iPhone 5S and is another attempt at producing a successful budget smartphone after the mixed results the iPhone 5C produced for the company.

So how does the new phone stack up to its predecessor and is it worth purchasing, well to start with the iPhone SE and the iPhone 5S externally are almost identical in every way except for the edges that now have a matte finish instead of the shiny finish found on the 5S.

A look at the screen shows that once again the two handsets are identical (4-inch IPS LCD, 1,136 x 640 resolution, 326ppi) and means that the SE is not in the same league as most new handsets released today.

It’s in the power of the phone where the major differences start to come into play. The SE has an A9 processor and 2GB ram making it similar to Apple’s current flagship phones. Just as it does with the CPU, Apple has stuck with the same fantastic camera tech in the iPhone SE that it used in the iPhone 6S, including a 12-megapixel sensor capable of capturing 4K and 240fps slo-motion video.

These two phones may look and feel almost identical, but the iPhone SE is a significant upgrade over the iPhone 5S in most of the ways that matter. If you are looking for a small, practical and slightly cheaper phone to use but with similar internal features of Apple’s flagship phones then the SE is definitely a worthy upgrade.
